Get Google Page One!
Today, 21 July 2010, if you were to enter the specific key phrase “Start Getting Website Traffic” you would see one of my sites Web Traffic Days.com (or an article linking to it), ranked positions 2, 3, 4 and 5 on page one out of 6,990 results.

For the broad search term Start Getting Website Traffic, I am again ranked page one position 2 and 5 out of 50,300,000 results!

Let’s take a closer look at how it was possible to get Google page one ranked multiple times for this keyword phrase in a matter of days…
Firstly, I use Word Press which has great natural SEO advantages, and contrary to what many believe, can be used not only for blogs, but for static sites, squeeze pages or a hybrid of all three, and Word Press is very acceptable to the big G!
As I like say “everything starts with keywords” and it does! Time chasing highly competitive keywords is time wasted and frustration you don’t need. Keyword research is topic of its own, and I don’t cover it here, but you will find time spent developing your abilities in this area will be well rewarded.
For now let me just say a couple of things about keywords. Firstly, for your best chance to get Google page one placement, go for the so called long tail keywords or phrases of 3 or more words, such as start getting website traffic, and build your campaign around that phrase, secondly, I like to use a phrase that I might actually type in as a search, and that can be easily and naturally be worked into the text of the webpage/article.
Ok this is what you want to know…
- Name your webpage with your keyword phrase. Simple enough, but this will form your title tag. The text will be displayed in the blue bar at the very top of the browser window; it will tell the search engine spiders what you’re all about and will also become your headline in SERPs, search engine results pages, “Get Google Page One!“For example, this also tells human searcher they have arrived at the right place. This is your most important tag.
- Use the keyword phrase as a subheading also known as the H1 tag. This will tell search engine spiders (programs that crawl the web collecting information to add to a search engine’s index) what is important about your page, for example…

- Use your key phrase in the first paragraph and then naturally throughout the page, aim for a keyword density of about 3- 7%. I.e. on average 3-7 times per 100 words.
- Spiders can’t read images. If you have images on the page name them with alt text. See <Alt> tags.
- Use anchor text. This is a key factor. SEO is about relevance, it’s what’s most valued by the search engines, and one of the ways you display relevance is by having your incoming links describing your page contents. An anchor text backlink for the screen shot example above would obviously read, Start Getting Website Traffic. In HTML you would write it like this <a href=“http//YourDomain.com” target=“_blank”> Keyword Phrase Text Here!</a> ( the : has been omitted from http:// to avoid an active link in this article)
- Get backlinks from blogs. Comment on blogs within your niche, become a top commenter. One of my best back link strategies is blog commenting, it is easy, efficient and you get the added advantage of reading lots of blogs within your niche (and so learn cool stuff!)Most important about these links is that you are able to get anchor text backlinks to your site from certain blogs you comment on… Like Mine!!! :) Where the comments submit form asks for, name, put your key phrase, this section is hyperlinked to the URL you input on that form. As far as search engines are concerned, this is a great vote for the relevance to your subject matter in relation to your site, and coming from a website of similar or competing interest, therefore this is one of the best forms of endorsement your website can receive, and this is why anchor text links are so important.
- To Get Google Page One! Have the majority of links pointing to your site in the form of anchor text links.
- When looking for blogs to comment on, start with the ones that Google has already demonstrated are valued and ranked page one. Your back link will therefore be of even more value, simply type your key phrase “Start Getting Website Traffic” for example into search and choose the top listed blogs. A variation on blog commenting is becoming a Top Commenter. Many blogs reward regular commenters with a top commenter link. This is great news, as a top commenter you get a link from every page on the blog… 30pagesite, 30 links to you. This is a monthly process so get in early at the beginning of a new month and one or two comments will get you in the top commenter’s box.
- Part of your link building strategy should also include article writing, make sure that the links in your resource box are anchor text and not simply your URL.
The next step is vital and an extremely powerful form of SEO practice.
- RSS feed submission; this again is a simple technique but one which is little known and if you have done the above steps will enable you to fast track and Get Google Page One! …
RSS Feed Submission…
RSS ( Really Simple Syndication) is basically a very simple method of sharing frequently updated broadcasts, such as blog posts, between websites, where you opt- in as an interested subscriber to receive updates.
The international RSS icon is found on most webpages, they also appear in the address bar, and act as hyperlinks to website feeds where you can subscribe and immediately begin to receive updates to your computer or cell phone, as news or posts are released by the website.
This is great news… You no longer have to go looking for this updated information, conversely, new updated information is now being sent to you! This is the traditional use of RSS. Once you have taken care of the basic SEO, as outlined above and in Basic Website Optimisation

How To Use Smart RSS…
There is a lesser known but powerful use of RSS, that will allow you to get Google page one, by submitting your feeds to the top aggregator websites. … Why? Because Google loves RSS… in fact they’ve already invested millions in buying the major RSS website FeedBurner.
RSS aggregator sites are actively wanting to receive your content via RSS feed, now is the perfect time to start using smart RSS submission techniques as part of your marketing strategy and quickly start getting website traffic and improved page ranking.
The principle is really quite simple, you see, when you submit RSS feeds to these aggregator websites, the file is stored on their servers, at the same time providing you with a link back to your website! Search engines love fresh content, therefore visit these aggregator sites more often than they would static sites, as a result, they rank them more prominently, more visibility means more web visitors will find your content.
The outcome is… Your website or blog will be found by more people, either indirectly via the links on the aggregator websites, or directly in SERPs, because your website is now ranking higher, due to the increased links from these RSS sites.
The time is perfect for you to get Google page one with the smart use of RSS feed submission. It can produce rapid results, generating targeted traffic, instantly building backlinks and improving your page rankings.
This is a little known but incredibly powerful page ranking technique… As a smart marketer you should be using it! Get Google Page One
